"Holy Fuck, indeed. The Shrine expected the unexpected with both of these phenomenal acts. It was almost as if opening band Holy Fuck set the mood, lit the candles in our creatively dim minds, and handed the fate of the rest of our night over to Hot Chip, where they later proceeded to draw us 'A Bath Full of Ecstasy'. Any lovers of all things warm, space-inspired electronic dancing goodness gathered and moved to the groove of the music. The creativity doesn't stop with the music alone. Along with the projections and beautiful sets of lighting Hot Chip brought on stage during their performance, prior to the headlining act, Holy Fuck completely took audience members by surprise once they managed to turn a butterknife into an instrument, rubbing the serrated side against what seemed like a reel of film. Perhaps it was the friction of the two under the right microphone that made such an interesting noise...or perhaps, truly, it was the magic of the night. See them live. Listen to their discography. Fall under Hot Chip's 'Spell' and see Holy Fuck live up to their name." - Yrene Hot Chip |
