Raised in Nashville by a background singer mother and session guitarist father, Savannah Conley’s musical education was deeply ingrained from a young age. She started performing at the age of seven and by nineteen she was taking home the John Lennon Songwriting award. Her debut EP, Twenty Twenty, was produced by Grammy Award-winning producer Dave Cobb (Brandi Carlile, Jason Isbell, John Prine) and released in 2018 to critical acclaim from Rolling Stone, NPR, Ones To Watch, and Refinery29. Rolling Stone praised the EP as an “emotionally rich collection of tracks full of moody instrumentation and whip-smart lines” and named Conley as one of their ‘Artists You Need To Know.’ It’s hard to pinpoint Savannah’s sound, but that’s what makes it so special. Combining a nostalgic guitar-driven musicality, unavoidable Southern charm, and a healthy dose of cross-genre inspiration, she has carved out a sound that feels both fresh yet timeless. Her lyricism is enchanting and goose-bump inducing, teeming with raw vulnerability that demonstrates a wisdom beyond her years, and her storytelling is only enhanced by her distinctive, rich, crystalline vocals and dynamic, full-bodied instrumentation. Just like any twenty-three year old, Savannah has spent the past few years navigating the tender passage from adolescence to adulthood. It’s a time wrought with emotions, first loves and heartbreaks, and drastic ups and downs. In her upcoming releases, she has taken the intensity of young adulthood and bottled it up into a selection of universally relatable songs, ranging from angst-driven anthems like “Being Around You” to giddy love songs like “Dream Boy.” The new singles, which were created with an array of fellow Nashvillians like Dave Cobb, Gabe Simon (Dua Lipa, COIN), and Trent Dabbs (Kacey Musgraves, Ingrid Michaelson), are a sincere and honest extension of the genre-transcendent sound that was introduced on Twenty Twenty Savannah Conley is truly coming into her own, in both her life and music.
