THE WAX is a malleable material which in a kind of alchemical process solidifies and transforms. As in all spells one must follow a recipe, ours was built through tests, a cycle was followed respecting the time of each one of the ingredients until arriving at the point of the ideal potion. We went through this one-year experimentation process on our studio (Wax Studio in Sao Paulo/Brazil) until finally in early 2018 bring the project called THE WAX to the world. The duo's name is a tribute to our studio, where it all began. We tell a mysterious story and the images are well present in this narrative. The sonority magnetize by the immersion on synthesizers overlapped with layers of reverbs and heavy beats that resemble a pulsing of an electronic ritual. Filmmaker and composer, Loulou Gutenberg, and music producer, Guiga Hansen, searched for a portal to a new spectrum a world apart where they could sharpen the most possible senses through sound. To "suggest" this unusual reality they resort to symbols using synesthesia in form of sound plus visual and chromatic resources to provide sensations of various natures. Certain noise or sound may evoke a particular image a color a smell or even a taste! "Musically our inspirations go through several rhythms coming from this terrestrial plane and other specters. Dark Pop, Jamaican Dub, Trap and Middle Eastern scales are some of the terrestrial plane references. The visual identity and all the symbolism are linked to our fascination with the Witch universe, B horror movies and science fiction. We're really fond of Dub's classic voice effects such as reverberation and echo as well, from this context comes the name of this music style we self titled as WITCHDUB."
